Position Title: Part-Time Firefighter/EMT
Hourly Rate: This position will be a part-time hourly rate position, and that hourly rate is $14.00 per hour. Now, the Board of Directors and Fire Chief has agreed to pay our part-time staff more, if they work on weekends. So, the hourly rate is $14.00 per hour, unless the shift covered is on a Saturday or Sunday and there will be a $2.00 hourly bonus added to the normal $14.00 rate.
Work Shifts: Shifts will be on all days throughout the week, and all applicants shall be able to work Saturdays and Sundays.
The Part-Time Firefighter will have the responsibility to ensure that the fire departments apparatus, equipment, and facilities are maintained at the appropriate readiness levels to respond to a variety of life-saving emergency calls. Our Part-Time Firefighters are primarily responsible for performing difficult and lifesaving work at emergency scenes including fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical care and general preparatory work at the fire station, checking equipment for proper operation and general condition, and performing and assisting with routine maintenance of apparatus and equipment.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina Class B Driver’s License;
• Certified North Carolina Firefighter Certified;
• NCOEMS Credentialed Emergency Medical Responder or Higher;
• NC Emergency Vehicle Driver Certification; and
• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
Conditions of Employment
Candidates shall pass a pre-employment drug screen, a job-related physical test and criminal history check per criteria set forth by this fire department. The candidates will also be graded on how they operate the pump on the fire department’s apparatus.
