Position Title: Fire Captain
Annual Salary: $41,000.00
Work Shifts: 24/48 Work Shift

In the realm of emergency services, the Fire Captain and the personnel over which he/she has supervisory control must be in a state of continual and constant readiness. Because all aspects of emergency service involve the saving of human lives, and to a lesser nature, property, it is fundamental to the position of Fire Captain that all duties and responsibilities are deemed essential at the very least.
Whether under direction of a Deputy Chief or higher-ranking officer, or acting on his/her own volition, the Fire Captain performs responsible management, technical and administrative work in commanding, supervising, coordinating and performing fire emergency operations, training of firefighters, fire prevention, general facility/equipment maintenance, public education and other related programs and services. The Captain will also be in control of his/her apparatus for the shift he/she is working.
Possession of a high school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform duties of the position.
Possession of a valid North Carolina class B driver’s license;
Possession of a North Carolina Firefighter certification;
Possession of North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician or higher;
Possession of NIMS 100,200,300,700,800 certifications;
Possession of Emergency Vehicle Driver certification; and
Ability to obtain North Carolina Instructor I, and North Carolina Fire Officer I certification within one year of appointment.
Drug Test & Criminal Checks: Candidates shall pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal history check per criteria set forth by this fire department.
